Located at the foot of Esplanade Avenue, the New Orleans Jazz Museum, located in the Old U.S. Mint, is a national historic landmark that is part of the Louisiana State Museum system.

The New Orleans Jazz Museum is strategically located at the intersection of the city’s French Quarter and the Frenchmen Street live music corridor. The Museum celebrates the history of jazz, in all its forms, through dynamic interactive exhibits, multigenerational educational programming, research facilities, and engaging musical performances. You can hear great music from some of New Orleans’ best contemporary artists in the state-of-the-art performance venue on the New Orleans Jazz Museum’s third floor. The Museum uses the space for evening programs, solo and small group concerts and special events while the New Orleans Jazz National Historic Park offers daily live music programs for local residents and visitors to the Museum. Upcoming Shows

The event will be preceded by a Patron Party starting at 7 p.m. in the Decatur Street Courtyard with an exclusive, multi-level balcony concert by Trumpet Mafia, accompanied by the N’Awlins D’awlins Baby Dolls and the Original Wild Tchoupitoulas Indians led by Big Queen Mary K. Stevenson. The Patron Party will also feature craft cocktails with Beam Suntory, a Beattie’s martini bar, and passed hors d’oeuvres.

The full Improv Gala will open to ticket holders at 8 p.m. A stellar lineup will be showcased including George Porter Jr. & Runnin Pardners, Charmaine Neville Band, Bo Dollis & the Wild Magnolias, Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet, Gabrielle Cavassa Band, Jelani Bauman Band with Jesse McBride, Herlin Riley and Gregg Stafford, Mahmoud Chouki Band with Oscar Rossignoli and featured guest Detroit Brooks, a unique choreographed performance by the NOLA Chorus Girls, and more.

The event will also include a wide array of food and drink and a dazzling Sound Collage that will transform the historic architecture into a playground of light, art, and music with illuminated installations, digital sculptures, video-mapping projections, art animated by technology and musical performances. A highlight this year will be a spectacular, lighted 30-foot windmill in the Decatur Courtyard, presented in homage to the iconic Moulin Rouge. Improv attendees will also haveaccess to the museum’s varied exhibits.
