The students from the NOCCA Jazz Ensemble, led by Mr. Michael Pellera, will join us in the studio for the next episode of School Groove, live from the WWOZ studio. Mr. Pellera is going to receive OffBeat Magazine's 2018 Lifetime Achievement in Education Award at the Best of the Beat Awards on Thursday, January 18.

School Groove is a series of live in-studio performances by middle and high school students from the Greater New Orleans area.

Our show hosts sit down with the band leaders to talk about the band, what it's like to be young musician, and about the music education opportunities in New Orleans. We also make a $1000 donation to the schools that appear.
