Jazz legend and trad jazz advocate Bob Wilber talked with WWOZ's Sally Young today on the Allison Miner Stage at Jazz Fest. He talked about his long career in music, including:

  • The jazz scene in New York in the 1940s.
  • His long relationships with Sidney Bechet and Benny Goodman.
  • Playing at the world's first jazz festival, in Nice, France in 1948.
  • Winning a Grammy for his work on the soundtrack for Francis Ford Coppola The Cotton Club.
  • Turning down a spot in Louis Armstrong's All-Stars not once, but twice.
