Composer Ron Jones (Family Guy, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Mission: Impossible…) started the first Ravel Study Group in L.A. in 2008 as a way to bring musicians together face-to-face, share ideas and study one of the greatest masterpieces of orchestration; Maurice Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe Suites. Ravel study groups can be found in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Tokyo, Toronto and now New Orleans. The group is for anyone, from musicians and composers to fans of music, but are especially valuable to creatives: performing artists, improvisers, mixing and audio engineers, producers, filmmakers, directors, showrunners, music supervisors, sound editors, sound designers, advertising professionals and post-production folks. Organized by composer Sebastian St. John, it is not a theoretical or academic analysis - we’re building an encyclopedia of techniques that we can use in our projects, and hanging out with like-minded people who love to explore this music. Meetings are free. Contact us to find out more and to reserve your spot.
