A Letter from WWOZ General Manager David Freedman
Spring has sprung in the Crescent City, and our Spring on-air membership drive begins Monday morning! You can help us get a head start on our goal by making your pledge now. Everyone who pledges by March 18 will receive a cool "Music to the Bone" bandanna in addition to any thank you gifts selected. If you have already made a pledge, thank you.
Our theme for the membership drive is "What is New Orleans?" like the song by New Orleans trumpeteer, singer, songwriter extraordinaire, Kermit Ruffins. Kermit will be with us to close out the drive on Wednesday, March 28th, during Judy Wood's "Jazz from the Market." You don't want to miss it!
Other special guests joining us in-studio during membership drive include Irma Thomas, Slewfoot and Cary B, Joe Krown, The Tin Men, Gradoux, Sol Fiya, John Gross, Big Daddy O, Betty Shirley, students from New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA), The Blacknotes and more.
Happy St. Patty's Day to you! Celebrate by tuning in to "Music from the Glen" with Sean O'Meara, Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. central time, and dancing a little jig!
Yours in cabbages & cannolis,
David Freedman
General Manager

WWOZ Street Talk
WWOZ has long served as the voice of New Orleans' culture. In the months after hurricane Katrina hit, our listeners have rallied to support that voice, and we in turn have served as a source for information about the music community since the storm. We now expand that role with a new feature: Street Talk.
On the air and on the web, Street Talk addresses issues vital to rebuilding the culture of New Orleans. Hear voices from brass band players, city officials, gospel choir directors, bar owners and more. We address housing, jobs and schools through the lens of culture, and ask local political candidates about their specific plans for rebuilding. Street Talk online includes interviews, commentary and more.
Check out Street Talk to hear about the January 11th citizens' march on City Hall to demand solutions to crime in New Orleans.
