On this week’s program, we enjoy the sounds of Eric Lindell and Sunliners, recorded live in the New Orleans Botanical Gardens in City Park. As a tireless discoverer of musical gems, Eric draws upon a vast array of American musical monuments, from the soulful majesty of The Impressions to the outlaw country and western of Merle Haggard.
During the program, I catch up with Eric at his home in Folsom, Louisiana to talk about moving to New Orleans, the late greats, George Jackson and George Jones, and the many connections between soul and country music. We also talk to Eric about his love of surfing and how his tours often center around spots with the best beaches. On this week’s culinary crossroads we visit Morning Call, a coffee shop in City Park, for some hand-made beignets and a café au lait.
City Park hosts music throughout the year. Visit their website for more information.
