Jazz Fest Shout OutsGreat music, great food, and even mostly great weather. What more could you ask of a Jazz Fest? We'd like to thank every single person who helped make Jazz Fest 2025 a resounding success for WWOZ! Each day of the festival, our committed staff, show hosts, and volunteers worked at our will call booth, took photos, served up Mango Freeze, staffed our hospitality tent, and, of course, produced our live broadcasts. Speaking of which, you can still hear second weekend sets on our Two-Week Archive, but they begin expiring on Thursday, May 15, and they'll all be gone by the evening of Sunday, May 18. |

Piano Night PhotosPer Thelonious Monk, "the piano ain’t got no wrong notes." All the right notes were flowing during WWOZ Piano Night at the House of Blues on the Monday between Jazz Fest weekends. Big thanks to everyone who came out for our flagship annual fundraiser, and to all the volunteers who helped make it happen. And a very special thank you to each of our 25 performers, and to our volunteer photographers Kristen Derr, Bob Gibson, and Harold Spinner III for capturing these moments so that we can share them with you. |

Volunteer Profile: Father RonThank goodness that Father Ron Clingenpeel has "allegedly retired." Otherwise, how could he do so much for WWOZ, including serving as a substitute show host and coordinating our volunteers at Jazz Fest, Piano Night, and the Groove Gala? And that’s in between fronting his own band, writing and recording music, traveling as a consultant for nonprofits, and taking care of a small congregation south of Houma. "The talents, the gifts, the love and the commitment that [other station volunteers] bring here is significant, and that feeds me in ways that I cannot sometimes imagine," says Father Ron. "We’re woven into the culture of this city. We want to be the voice of the music of this city. That is the genius of WWOZ, it’s a part of the community, it loves the community, and it wants to promote the community everywhere." Very true, and that community loves Father Ron! |

Recipe: Crawfish Pasta with Cream SauceBefore we let Jazz Fest 2025 go, a quick nod to one of the perennial food favorites: Crawfish Monica. If you missed the real thing at Jazz Fest this year--or if you've just got a craving--this recipe will tide you over until next year. |
