The students from Young Audiences Charter School in Gretna will be joining host Murf Reeves on the May edition of School Groove, live from the WWOZ studio. This young band placed third in the Beginner category at the recent 'Class Got Brass' competition, held by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation during Congo Square Rhythms Festival.

School Groove is a series of live in-studio performances by middle and high school students from the Greater New Orleans area.

Our show hosts sit down with the band leaders to talk about the band, what it's like to be young musician, and about the music education opportunities in New Orleans. We also make a $1000 donation to the schools that appear.
