The Gumbo Festival (October 9–11, 2026) welcomes thousands of visitors to Westwego for a weekend filled with award-winning gumbo, live entertainment, carnival rides, family activities, and community spirit—all while raising funds in support of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, a historic church that has faithfully served the Westwego community for more than a century.

The Louisiana Gumbo Cook-Off, one of the festival's signature attractions, invites teams from across the state to compete for cash prizes and bragging rights in multiple gumbo categories while giving festival guests the opportunity to experience some of Louisiana's finest cooking.
