The Newcomb Music Department's concert band, symphony orchestra, and jazz ensembles frequently perform here, as well as classical piano and guitar concert series. Dixon Concert Hall is also home to the critically acclaimed Summer Lyric Theater and Friends of Music Concert Series.

As a legendary bandleader, NEA Jazz Master, and patriarch of one of New Orleans' most renowned musical families, Ellis Marsalis is regarded as the premier modern jazz pianist in the city. At this special concert, presented annually, Marsalis will perform with his quartet and participate in an audience Q&A session following the show. Free and open to the public.
