Running through Nov 2 at Loyola, “for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf," a choreopoem that follows seven women of color through a world shaped by racism, oppression and sexism. A ground-breaking work in modern American theatre, Ntozake Shange wrote “for colored girls” in 1976 as a series of poetic monologues to uplift women’s struggles, strength, desires, resilience, and the sanctified magic of love and possibility.
The play runs 80 minutes, with no intermission. The performances are Oct. 24-26 and Oct. 30-Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 for students with an ID; $15 for senior citizens, and Loyola faculty and staff with an ID; and, $20 for adults.
