Our Spring Pledge Party is under way, so it's time to show your love for WWOZ! If you need a reason to pledge, check out some of the reasons offered by our listeners below:

Another reason I listen is because you are literally the only radio station I have found that exposes me to such a wide variety of music that I love...from jazz to funk to blues to...you name it. I support you in part because even if I woke up tomorrow and suddenly didn't like what 'OZ plays, I would still support you because you need to exist. You are a beacon of cultural vibrancy among so much that is so boring.
--Rich, New Hampshire

I live in Mariposa, California (near Yosemite National Park), and can get no radio signals because  of the mountainous terrain. So I started looking for New Orleans radio stations that had an online presence. I stopped when I got to OZ. From hour one, I "got" what I heard. One of the things I tell people is that I never know what I'm going to hear. Sometimes I get really into it and sometimes not, but it has certainly broadened my appreciation for music I never would have thought to seek out.
--Elizabeth, Cali

The first time I heard your station was when I downloaded the app.  I visit New Orleans every 6 weeks or so,  but between trips I get "homesick",  if that's possible for somewhere you've never lived.  So when I listen to WWOZ,  it's like a little piece of NOLA is here with me.
--Paul, Florida

Simply stated, the city of New Orleans has had me under a spell since I first stepped foot in the Vieux Carre some 20 years ago and WWOZ allows me to always be there in spirit even as the bright lights of Times Square flash outside my office window. Streaming WWOZ not only fills my ears with the sounds of Frenchmen Street but also my nose with the smell of BBQ from The Joint, the taste of a sazerac at Clancy's and my heart with the knowledge that soon enough I'll be back down there again.
--Josh, Brooklyn

I love listening to WWOZ because it plays real music and the dj's are real people with ideas and thoughts of their own about the music.  I find it an incredibly fascinating and rich listening experience.
--Fran, New Orleans

I listen to WWOZ from northeastern Pennsylvania.  I came to hear about WWOZ via Harry Shearer's show, Le Show.  I kept listening because you guys play nothing but music!  I love the variety and as a singer/songwriter/band leader myself I am often running for a pen and paper to write down a song that I want to sing.  I hear about concerts going on near where I live with NOLA musicians.
--Janet, Pennsylvania

WWOZ is the most eclectic station I have ever listened to. In an age of over genrefication, this station, it's awesome people, and it's wide range programming don't lose the Groove.
--Cal, Napa

I fell in love with the DJs. It is incredibly beautiful to me that they bring their own music in to play. I feel that I know them better because of that. It becomes more a product of love. You all just want to share your music. Basically, I support WWOZ because I believe in the music.

We found WWOZ January 2014 when we were happily driving along on our way to New Orleans about 9 o'clock at night when our cruise control suddenly kicked off as we drove over a bridge. The car swerved, then straightened out. As we were pulling over to see if we had hit something in the road, we saw a sign ahead that the Interstate was closed due to icing. (We had no idea we were driving into the Great Winter Storm of 2014!) We flipped over to FM radio from Sirius XM to get any local news we could find. Like a gift from heaven, we found WWOZ!
New Orleans has been a part of our family at least since December of 1956 when my parents spent one night of their honeymoon here. How did we miss out on WWOZ all these years? Probably the same way we missed the weather reports that crazy January. New Orleans feels like our second home so we just make a jaunt down whenever the whim strikes us with no real planning beforehand. (That same poor planning nearly got us killed over Lake Pontchartrain in 1989, but that is an entirely different story of lessons learned.)
Well, we are making up as best we can for the 33 years we were unaware of WWOZ. What an exceptional job you all do. Many, many thanks to your entire team!
