Legendary producer, songwriter, vocalist, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee George Clinton is known by many names: "Dr. Funkenstein," the "Atomic Dog," creator of P-Funk, leader of Parliament and Funkadelic, etc. Now add "author" and "artist advocate" to his list of titles, and hear why in this special interview that I conducted with Mr. Clinton for "The Checkout" show on WBGO FM of Newark, New Jersey. In addition to talking about his new autobiography, Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain't That Funkin' Kinda Hard on You (release date: October 21, 2014), we chatted about his love of jazz, his fight to win (and help other artists win) the fight in music copyright battles with record companies, and so much more. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I enjoyed doing it. Thank you to WBGO, The Checkout, Josh Jackson, Simon Rentner, George Clinton and Carlon Thompson-Clinton, and WWOZ.
