New Orleans-born clarinetist, saxophonist, and educator Victor Goines presents a "clarinet-centric" version of New Orleans music history in this hour-long presentation at the Chicago Humanities Festival.
Combining interview and performance, Goines demonstrates the evolution of the city's music, touching on Buddy Bolden, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, the second line tradition, the Afro-Cuban-blues fusion of Professor Longhair, and more.
