1) Brass bands and gumbo! This winning combination returns to Armstrong Park on Saturday and Sunday for Treme Creole Gumbo Fest, presented by the Jazz & Heritage Foundation. Performers include TBC Brass Band, Free Agents Brass Band, Rebirth Brass Band, and Trumpet Mafia. The festival will offer a smorgasbord of New Orleans' signature dish in a variety of styles. Gumbo z’herbes, shrimp and oyster, chicken and andouille, Creole filé, dark roux, gluten-free and even vegan-- all served from 14 vendors in the expanded food court. 2) Tuesday is Dr. John Day in New Orleans. The Night Tripper makes 77 and the New Orleans City Council declared his birthday to be "Dr. John Day." Moreover, we are entrenched in November, known this year as "Dr. John Month." Happy birthday, Mac! We'll be spinning your songs on Tuesday.
