The 1920's was a time of influence that resonated in a special way with the Crescent City. It was a time led by defiance, social change, and dazzling culture. But most importantly, it gave birth to one of the city's beloved trademarks-- jazz. From the trenches of smoky nightclubs emerged a genre of music that would shape the culture for decades to come. Many of the greats, such as Louis Armstrong, ventured to Chicago to record, but they always stayed true to New Orleans (Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?). The lively sounds quickly became a symbol of fun, one thing New Orleanians still know best. It stands alive amongst the historic structures, the bustling culture, and the music... oh, the music.

New Orleans in the 1920's - Notice the abscence of narration in the news reel clip: it was the era of silent cinema.
