Congratulations to all my friends at The French Quarter Fest on this special 30th anniversary celebration! This year the largest free music festival in the South features 271 performers on 21 stages, as well as, par normal, the world’s largest jazz brunch in Jackson Square.
There are literally hundreds of acts that you will enjoy out here, some very popular, some not so. Here are a few less obvious, and perhaps under your radar, Hot Picks for this weekend:
THURSDAY –
Honeypots, 11:00 @ Abita Beer; Sunflower City, 2:00 @ WWL-TV; Egg Yolk Jubilee, 3:30 @ Capitol One; N. O. Nightengales, 5:00 @ WWL-TV.
FRIDAY –
Waylon Thibodeaux, 12:30 @ Chevron; Gal Holiday & the Honky Tonk Review, 12:30 @ Absolut/Louis-Louis; Camille Baudoin & the Living Rumors, 2:00 @ Popeye’s/Offbeat; John Autin with Al “Carnival Time” Johnson, 4:30 @ WWL-TV; Debauche, 5:45 @ Ford.
Remember to check out the entertaining programming on the 3rd floor of the Old U. S. Mint to take a chance to get inside and sit down for a few moments. As always, see you in the Quarter, and Go Here Some Live Local Music!
