Mind Meld of
Radio and Television
While dumpster diving in the trash cana of Americana, I ran across a prescient Star Trek episode that captures this weekend's New Orleans. Forty years ago, The Return of the Archons, featured a society lead by a guy named Landru that celebrated a festival of debauchery. Oh, the coincidence of New Orleans' electing Mitch Landrieu as Mayor during Mardi Gras - the dumpster diving gods are smiling on me!
This Saturday from midnight until Sunday at 3am, I'll have the entire Star Trek episode cut down to a handful of short interstitial sound clips sandwiched between three hours of related music. You'll get the usual multiple story lines of topical music dealing with Mardi Gras and outer space interspersed with a complimentary re-fried story line composed of Shatner and Nimoy dialog. This is going to be funny. Tune in - "It is the will of Landrieu."
