Those of you who frequent the French Quarter know Grandpa Elliott's soulful voice and unique harmonica playing from hearing him on a corner on Royal Street. Or perhaps you tuned in to our live broadcast of Mark Johnson's "Playing for Change" project last month, which featured Elliott. Well, Grandpa has made the big time — he appeared on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report last night and absolutely stunned the audience.

Stephen Colbert's interview guest on the show (August 12) was Mark Johnson, a Grammy-winning producer/engineer who put together a project that brings together street musicians from all over the world to play with each other. At the end of the interview (and the episode), Grandpa Elliott and a small rhythm section took the stage for a pristine yet soul-stirring version of "Stand By Me".

Luckily, this great performance is available for free streaming on Hulu.com. Watch the complete episode below... Note that you'll need to wait for your computer to load the whole video before scrolling to the end for the music.
