There is not one barista who has worked in the Marigny or Bywater in the past ten years who doesn't know Hart and Otto. My favorite game was to see if I could decide what Hart would have for breakfast before he could. I will miss him so much.

Seeing Hart laugh out loud so many times at his long battle with cancer had me believing that he would just never die, that he was just too bright of a beam. But even despite today's sad news I do still believe that, that the man with the biggest sound (who played the softest instument,)and who could see with the shapest gaze, has only just gotten brighter. Now too loud and too bright for us to humanly comprehend I know his spirit has only grown more alive. May your journey to the ancestral lands be smooth my friend. I'll see you in the big forest one day. xox kid

I am so glad I can stream WWOZ from my travels abroad.......and I am now listening to Hart's music this morning from 5,000 miles away. Thank you all for making it possible for me to close my eyes and remember what he looked like when he was playing, and I can remember when he laughed out loud from the stage and got all crazy. Loved that man and his amazingly beautiful spirit. Peace.
