In this series, we're featuring classic Mardi Gras songs and the stories behind them.

This episode delves into Rebirth Brass Band's most popular tune, 'Do Watcha Wanna,' with backstories from founding members Kermit Ruffins and Phil Frazier.

"All the neighborhood cats used to say, 'I'm gonna do what I wanna!'" says Ruffins. The song was so successful that the band has recorded it three times; the third version being a special one for Mardi Gras.

"It feels like we had nothing to do with that tune and it's been here forever [at this point]," says Ruffins. "I hear it on the radio and don't even realize it's me singing it. I just think of it as an old, old Mardi Gras standard."
