The latest release from Margie Perez, Love Is All, is a collection of dynamic and versatile songs with funk, blues, pop, and Latin influences. Released on November 4, 2016, Love Is All features an impressive and varied lineup of New Orleans musicians giving each song a distinctive and unique style that sets each track apart from one another.
Love Is All is a 9-track album that invites the listener to get up and dance through Perez’s distinctive vocal style. The funky, blues inspired tracks like 'He’s Just Not That Into You' and 'Girlfriends' bounce and shuffle around while also delivering a positive feminine message in a way that’s not accusative, but rather celebratory. Perez is her strongest on the tracks when she brings her Latin influence to the table with tracks like 'Contigo' and 'Quimbara,' the latter recorded at WWOZ and also featured on WWOZ CD #44 If Only You Knew. See this performance below. Latin influences continue to permeate throughout the album in some of the melodies and horn phrases that lends a special identity by blending so many styles together.
