Pell is a modern musical force, a rapper, singer, playwright, songwriter, producer, and creative community organizer. His bouncy, energetic tunes and passion for his native Crescent City spirit shine through in his recordings and his performances, and as an organizer, nurturer, and collaborator with the Glbl Wrmng collective.
Jared Pellerin was born in 1992 in New Orleans, but his family had to relocate to relatives in Jackson, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina and the federal levee failures. Pell turned to music during the ensuing years, starting with his beat machine and combining elements of hip hop, R&B, and jazz with his innate creativity and spirituality to build meaningful, poetic tracks. He began rapping and performing in high school and later at Mississippi State University. Eventually he migrated back to his hometown, where he continues to create music and other art forms, including his acclaimed 2015 musical, The Pellarious Pursuit, which was re-mounted in 2025 at the Ashe Cultural Center.
He has shared stages with superstars Doja Cat, G-Eazy, Kehlani, PJ Morton, and Ambré, among others, and has toured across the country and Australia. He has earned millions of plays on streaming services, with tunes like “Got it Like That (Eleven;11 Remix)” and albums like LIMBO and Floating While Dreaming.
