Paul Sanchez

Paul Sanchez is a songwriting, guitar-toting master of the New Orleans creative scene. He is a founding member of Cowboy Mouth; leader of his own jalopy-like ensemble, the Rolling Road Show; a collaborator in myriad groups, notably the Write Brothers (with Spencer Bohren, Jim McCormick, and Alex McMurray); and a composer of music for film and television, including the hit “Treme Song” that inspired the hit HBO series of the same name.

The New Orleans native grew up in the Irish Channel and translates his deep appreciation for the New Orleans landscape into the songs he writes for himself and for others. His tunes have been performed by a slew of major recording artists, including Darius Rucker, Susan Cowsill, Irma Thomas, Michael Cerveris, the Eli Young Band (“Jet Black and Jealous”), Hootie and the Blowfish, John Boutte, and Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra.

Sanchez holds a shelf-load of awards and honors, both for his own career and for his time with Cowboy Mouth, from 1990 to 2006. He left the band after Hurricane Katrina, and turned his talents to writing for other voices and genres, including a book, “Pieces of Me,” and the musical adaptation of the New York Times bestseller “Nine Lives.” He performs regularly around New Orleans.
