Born and raised in the Southside of Chicago, Marty Sammon began learning piano early in his childhood.  By the age of 15, he found himself already deeply embedded into the Chicago Blues scene playing with Southside Blues guitarist, Mr. L.V. Banks.  

 

It wasn’t long before Marty began receiving calls to play with other well- known Chicago artists, including Phil Guy (brother of Buddy Guy) and Otis Rush.  Marty performed and toured Otis Rush for five years and appeared on Otis Rush's 2003 (DVD), “Live Part One,” and Martin Scorsese's double Grammy Award winning Blues Series (Best Historical Album and Best Album Notes)  “Godfathers and Sons.” 

 

For over a decade now, Marty Sammon has performed worldwide with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and six time Grammy Award winner , Mr. Buddy Guy.  

 

His notable credits include: Buddy Guy’s Grammy Award (Contemporary Blues Album) winning album “Living Proof,” “Robert Randolph’s Presents: The Slide Brothers,” appearances on Eric Clapton’s Guitar Festivals (DVD/CD), Experience Hendrix (DVD/CD), Carlos Santana Presents the Blues (DVD), etc.

 

While touring, Marty continues to record and release his own original material.  His band, The Marty Sammon Band, has also headlined a variety of festivals within the United States and worldwide.

 

As an ambassador of Chicago Blues, Marty performs at schools and universities to promote Blues and music career development education.
