Marla Dixon

Marla Dixon learned to play trumpet in high school, and after a hiatus, she discovered New Orleans traditional jazz and moved directly to the Crescent City, not passing Go, but instead collecting armloads of accolades. Dixon, a fine singer as well as horn player and band leader, mentored with the great Orange Kellin, and is now an established doyenne of Frenchmen Street, and can be heard with her own Shotgun Jazz Band, Tom Saunders’ Tom Cats, and the Shake ‘Em Up Jazz Band.
