Marbrisa is a multi-instrumentalist world music artist who recently transplanted to the Crescent City from her native Detroit. She spent her early adult years learning to sing and play music while living in Guatemala, Mexico, and New York City, and her songs blend elements of Latin, jazz, funk, and folk traditions. She’s also traveled to Cuba and Spain to enhance her knowledge of world music forms, returning to Detroit to hone her craft. Now in New Orleans, she organizes a monthly all-female composers forum called Queens of the Song Age, and gigs around town in clubs like the Royal Frenchmen Hotel and 30 x 90. She’s released a pair of world-beat albums in Detroit; her 2019 effort, Ciclos, garnered her a Detroit Music Award for songwriting.
