Fermin Ceballos + Merengue4Four feature infectious Afro-Caribbean sounds including merengue, bachata, and vellentano, a Latin styling that hails from Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Founder Fermin Ceballos, a guitarist, accordionist, pianist and singer, was born in the Dominican Republic and studied and taught music there until he moved to New Orleans in 2012. He quickly became a welcome fixture in the city’s Latin scene, performing with a variety of musicians and teaching music and conducting workshops for schools and the community. In typical New Orleans fashion, Ceballos began to incorporate local sounds into his music, such as “Zydeco Star,” a collaboration with the legendary Rockin’ Dopsie, Jr, on his recent album Bochinche.
