Brother Tyrone

Brother Tyrone, also known as Tyrone Pollard, is, in the words of one reviewer, “old school cool.” The veteran crooner, always impeccably turned out, combines vintage soul sensibilities with classic numbers, such as his heart-breaking rendition of “You Don’t Miss Your Water” or the whisper-quiet “Sarah Smile,” and with more contemporary themes, like “When It’s Gone, It’s Gone,” an original ballad about Katrina’s aftermath. Brother Tyrone can be found as a solo act or with his band, The Mindbenders. His 1999 album “Blue Ghetto” brought him to the forefront of the local music scene, even though he’s been around forever, playing legendary gigs at The Golden Pheasant, the Candlelight, and the Fix Lounge. His 2008 album, “Mindbender,” sealed the reputation, and Brother Tyrone is now a household name, and a favorite at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, among others.
