Betty Winn & One A-Chord

Betty Winn and the One A-Chord Gospel Singers are an extended choir with both male and female voices who carry the gospel tradition forward in both church and secular settings. The group, led by choral director and lead singer Betty Winn, was founded in 1995 and makes regular appearances at events around the Crescent City and has toured the world, including recurring shows in Spain. One A-Chord is also a staple at the Gospel Tent at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, where the group can include eight vocalists in close harmony or a full choir with a band. Their repertoire ranges from spirituals to traditional hymns and modern church music, with nods to gospel pillars Thomas Dorsey and Mahalia Jackson, all seasoned with the sounds of New Orleans, such as the Caribbean-tinged “Shut de Door.”
