Ashlin Parker

Ashlin Parker is a Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter who brings a confident voice and deeply-educated soul to every note he plays. He can be heard in small and large ensembles, including the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and with his best-known project, the Trumpet Mafia. Parker was a member of Ellis Marsalis’s band from 2014 until Marsalis’s death in 2020. He also plays with Dumpstaphunk, Bill Summers and Jazalsa, Jesse McBride’s Next Generation. and Pat Casey and the New Sounds, as well as sitting in with a host of other New Orleans bands. In addition to his work with Marsalis, he has also collaborated closely with a Who’s Who of jazz, including DeeDee Bridgewater, Terence Blanchard, Brian Blade, Wynton, Delfeayo, and Jason Marsalis, and Maceo Parker.

In addition to performing, Parker is a dedicated educator who strives to engage children and non-musicians in the art and joy of making music. He teaches at the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music and at Tulane University in addition to numerous workshops around the globe. He has received several honors for both his playing and his educational work, including the 2018 Spirit of Satchmo award from the French Quarter Fest. and has been seen on several television shows, including “NCIS: New Orleans” and “Southern Charm: New Orleans,” and appeared on Russian television’s “Bolshoi Jazz.” He is an in-demand studio musician, as well, and can be heard on some 40 albums to date.
