Here's a chance to make your voice heard in the campaign to restore a Louisiana landmark.

After Hurricane Katrina, The New Canal Lighthouse was called "the most endangered lighthouse in America" by the American Lighthouse Foundation.

The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation is reconstructing the New Canal Lighthouse that was severely damaged in Hurricane Katrina, and they have applied to Jeld-Wen, Inc. to receive free windows and doors. The foundation has plans to turn the lighthouse into a museum and environmental education center once it is restored.

One of 12 finalists in the Jeld-Wen Lighthouse Restoration Initiative, The New Canal Lighthouse is currently in second place and has a good chance of winning the contest, which ends on September 7, 2008. You are invited to tell your friends, family and neighbors about the contest and encourage them to vote. It's a great way to try to get some more rebuilding help for one of the historic treasures of New Orleans.
