1) It's another busy weekend for live music in New Orleans with Bear Creek Bayou Fest (Fri-Sun), Treme Fest (Sat-Sun), the Swing Dance Festival (Th-Sun), and even more in the clubs!

Performers at Bear Creek Bayou include The Flaming Lips, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Zigaboo Modeliste & the Funk Review, and Nigel Hall Band.

The second annual Treme Fest includes performances from Tank & the Bangas, Glen David Andrews, Mike 'Soulman' Baptiste, Treme All-Stars featuring Kermit Ruffins, James Andrews, Shannon Powell, and more, TBC Brass Band, Little Freddie King, and more.

The 8th annual New Orleans Swing Dance Festival (formerly known as the Lindy Hop Showdown) includes dane lessons for all levels, live local jazz, social dancing, outdoor concerts, after parties with live music, a second line parade, dance performances, and more.

2) If staying home and listening to recorded music is more your thing, the Record Raid is taking place at the New Orleans Jazz Market on Saturday, October 1. Check out this spotlight they did on former WWOZ DJ Jivin' Gene's amazing collection.

3) Family Ties steps out on Sunday at 1p! Get the route sheet for this second line parade from WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets.

4) Light on new local music? Check out our most recent new music spotlights from the New Orleans Suspects, Bruce Daigrepont, and Robin Barnes.

5) October means cooler weather and a more pleasant outdoor music experience. Take advantage at this week's Jazz in the Park, the free weekly concert series at Armstrong Park. The next show will be Thursday, October 6 with Soul Rebels and Noisewater.
