1) Another good weekend in the Crescent City! Irish Fest on Saturday 9/17, Jo 'Cool' Davis Tribute at Tips on Friday, and Walter 'Wolfman' Washington & the Roadmasters at the Historic New Orleans Collection on Friday 9/16. Now, for the rest of the week...

2) HIP (Hosting Improvising Performers) Fest will be at the Blue Nile on Frenchmen and the George & Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center starting Tuesday, 9/20. HIP Fest is an annual meeting of prominent national and international musical improvisers and the New Orleans improvised music community. The festival  takes place over two nights. On the first night, each of the visiting artists will perform with New Orleans musicians. On the second night, an established New Orleans group will open the concert and the visiting artists will perform together, including Kidd Jordan, Jeff Parker, Mazz Swift, and Cristiano Calcagnile.

3) Good Fellas Second Line Parade will be held Sunday, September 18 starting at 1p. Get the route sheet from WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets.

4) Thousands throughout southern Louisiana are still working to rebuild their homes and lives after this summer's devastating flooding throughout the Baton Rouge region. WWOZ & the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation are seeking 100 volunteers to join our crew as we head up to help gut houses and rebuild for a Community Day of Service on Saturday, Sep. 24. As of 9/16, we have 17 volunteers-- we need YOU to make this happen! Join us by registering here!

5) Our video of the week comes from Big George Brock performing 'Glory, Glory, Hallelujah (Since I Lay My Burden Down)' at the 2014 Bogalusa Blues & Heritage Festival. Catch more great performance like this one at the 2016 edition of the Bogalusa Blues Fest on Sep. 23-24.
