'5 things to know' is a weekly feature highlighting different parts of the WWOZ world that you may have missed this week, including unique WWOZ programming and video, plus New Orleans events, artists, places, features, and more. For the week ending May 6, 2016:

1) It's a busy Mother's Day weekend! Jazz in the Park is celebrating their 5-year anniversary with a free weekend-long festival filled with music, art, and food in Armstrong Park. Check out the Treme Art & Music Festival's schedule for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday here. Irma Thomas is holding her annual Mother's Day concert at the Audubon Zoo.

2) Two second lines this weekend. A new club, Nuthin' But Fun, rolls on Saturday at 1:30p, and the Original Big 7 Mother's Day Parade makes 20 years this Sunday. Hear Action Jackson's interviews with Nettie Nelson of Nuthin' But Fun as she talks about what it takes to get a new second line started up during the busy season and Ed Buckner of Big 7 as he talks history, safety, and community. 3) April was a whirlwind! See our photo highlights from the last week-- a rainy second weekend of Jazz Fest and the sights from our 28th annual Piano Night on April 25. 5) The Lower 9th Ward's Street Library is holding their 4th annual Children's Book Parade this Saturday, May 7 from 1-3p in conjunction with the Ashe Contemporary Arts Center.
