One of the biggest problems facing students in low-income neighborhoods is a lack of after-school activities. So some schools around the country are paying students to attend after-school programs. One of those schools is right here in New Orleans. Science and Math Charter School on Loyola Avenue has an innovative debate program that pays kids a stipend to attend the program.

But that's not the only thing that makes the program unique. Rather then debate in an auditorium at debate competitions, the students debate in public. In this week's Street Talk, reporter David Weinberg takes a trip with the debate team to Jackson Square where they debate on disaster tourism.
