This Wednesday, July 10 we'll remember and celebrate the life of Uncle Lionel Batiste from perhaps a less familiar vantagepoint.  One of my favorite memories of Uncle Lionel are the times he would occassionally sit next to me and softly sing the old songs of his youth most charmingly into my closest ear.  The vocals of this famous musician and larger-that-life cultural figure are simple and sentimental, quinessentially Uncle Lionel.  Other musical memories and contexts will swirl and eddy around the vocal stylings of Uncle Lionel during this Special Edition of FRESH FIG JAM.
