After a long, hard day of fun, you have to make your decision on who will bring it on home for you. With so many huge acts to choose from (and such tired feet), sometimes the best thing is just to grab as much last-minute music as you can before collapsing in a heap... and getting ready for the night-time shows.

Terrence Simien & the Zydeco Experience were one of my first candidates, and they put on a stellar show. I admit I was a little confused when Terrence (pictured at right) asked the audience if we would like to go to Jamaica, but it became clear when he launched into an excellent rendition of "Pressure Drop" reconfigured brilliantly to fit his Creole instrumentation. But truth be told, that was no group to sit down and relax to, as my feet seemed unable to stop moving.







Right next door was the Congo Square "My Louisiana" Stage featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis (left) and Yacub Addy & Odadaa! (above) A brilliant set of switch-offs between African drumming and Western jazz. And most exciting was when the two intertwined for a very fresh and sophisticated sound. The only problem: I still couldn't stay seated!
