This week’s program brings you the blues, inflections of West Africa, as well as a moment of Gospel, with music by Marcia Ball, Toubab Krewe, the Johnny Vidacovich Trio, the late Tommy Ridgely and others.

All these voices come together as we prepare for a visit to the Congo Square New World Rhythms Festival.   We talk about the festival and the significance of Congo Square with Scott Aiges from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation.

We also meet up with Woody of Woody’s Fish Tacos for a taste of one of the foods being served at the festival.

The program eventually takes a ferry trip across the mighty Mississippi for a set of music, all recorded live at the Old Point Bar in Algiers Point.
