Our 40th Birthday Celebration Rolls OnJoin us in celebrating our 40th birthday! We're in the midst of a 40-day countdown to December 4, with special programming every day: amazing rebroadcasts of live music recorded around New Orleans, plus classic programs with show hosts from our past, including Big Mama, Ernie K-Doe, Billy Delle, and many others. We'll also be bringing you the history of 'OZ through the years, from upstairs at Tipitina's to Armstrong Park to the French Market, told in the voices of those who were there. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, for great photos and more. |

On Demand: Virtual Crescent City Blues & BBQ FestivalLast month, we partnered with the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation to present a virtual "festing in place" version of the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival. Now you can watch the whole event on demand on our YouTube channel, including performances by Samantha Fish, Bobby Rush, Ruthie Foster and lots more, plus newly-recorded sets by Little Freddie King and Walter "Wolfman" Washington. |

OnlineWire Virtual Gig CalendarYou can stay home and still support live, local music: our WWOZ OnlineWire, a calendar of virtual gigs, will be standing in for the regular WWOZ Livewire for as long as it takes! You can see performances happen on a variety of platforms, mostly social media. We're sharing links when and where we can. Many musicians are offering digital "tip jars" via Venmo or other payment systems during these sets. And be on the lookout for many of New Orleans' famous clubs and other venues, who are putting together regular weekly schedules for streaming sets. |

Volunteer Spotlight: Branden Daniel KemptThis month we shine the volunteer spotlight on Branden Daniel Kempt, who currently serves as a production assistant, editing voice recordings for our underwriting and station announcements, which he describes as "a blast." In addition to meeting and recording some of the musical legends that come through the station, he found a sense of community at WWOZ: "people who care for music the way that I do and who love to talk about it. Coming to the station feels as natural as to me as going to band practice." As a new owner/GM of Gasa Gasa, here's hoping Branden can use his WWOZ experience to help restore our live music scene in 2021. Thanks for all the hard work, Branden. |

Recipe: Louisiana Cornbread DressingAn extra pan of dressing can be a welcome addition to holiday dinner gatherings. While oyster or rice dressing might be more traditional, this cornbread dressing with sausage is pretty wonderful too, even if it's a bit more generically "Southern" than those other varieties. You can use any sort of sausage you like, but something about sweet Italian sausage works great with cornbread. |
