Piano Night 2017
Starting Tomorrow: Jazz Fest
|
Jazz Fest 2017 kicks off at the Fair Grounds tomorrow, April 28, and as ever, WWOZ will have strong presence! The pop and rock stars get disproportionate amounts of attention, but Jazz Fest's true character is all about the hundreds jazz, blues, and folk artists, many of them Louisiana-based, that grace its dozen stages. This year's fest also features a celebration of Cuban culture, with food items like ropa vieja and tostones, and musicians like Daymé Arocena and Pedrito Martinez, both of whom are slated for our live broadcast (see below). |
Jazz Fest Live Broadcasts
|
During all seven days of Jazz Fest, we'll be live broadcasting exciting performances from the Blues, Jazz, and Economy Hall tents. So far, the broadcast list includes (in addition to the Cuban artists mentioned above) the Joey Alexander Trio; Lil’ Buck Sinegal with Barbara Lynn; a Buckwheat Zydeco tribute with Nathan Williams, C.J. Chenier, and Corey Ledet; and SFJAZZ Collective playing the music of Miles Davis. Click through for more details. |
Give Now: GiveNOLA Day
|
GiveNOLA Day is a charitable giving event designed to to inspire generous giving to the many nonprofit organizations (like 'OZ) that help create our vibrant community. And while GiveNOLA Day is nominally Tuesday, May 2, the donation system is already up and running, so you can make a donation to WWOZ right now. |

Entergy Supports WWOZ's Cuttin' Class
|
We'd like to take this chance to thank Entergy New Orleans, sponsor of Cuttin' Class, our series of live in-studio performances by middle and high school students from the Greater New Orleans area. Entergy's generous support allows us to continue helping the dedicated educators who mentor our community's young musicians. |
Recipe: Joe Krown's Dry Rub Baby Back Ribs
|
No matter where you live, summer is barbecue season. These savory, spicy ribs, from a recipe by WWOZ Piano Night artist Joe Krown, fit the bill. It's his contribution to That Sounds Good: A Cookbook Celebrating 30 Years of WWOZ. |
The WWOZ Hospitality Tent would like to thank Brass Pass holders and ThePlantGallery for their support.
