The Backstreet Cultural Museum seeks to preserve and promote the culture of the birthplace of Jazz. The Museum contains exhibits, artifacts, memorabilia, films and videos depicting Mardi Gras Indians, Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs, and Traditional Jazz Funerals.

Upcoming Shows

The Backstreet Cultural Museum will host a Grand Opening for their new location on Saturday, July 9. A second line led by Benny Jones & the Treme Brass Band will start at 4pm at the museum's original location (1116 Henriette Delille) and head to the Backstreet's new spot at 1531 St. Philip. The celebration will take place until 6pm at Tuba Fats Square just across North Robertson Street from the museum's new home. The museum will be open to guests to get a first peek. Refreshments will be served.

Starting on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, the Backstreet Cultural Museum will be open for visitors to tour. Regular business hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
