Woodenhead formed in 1975 by Jimmy Robinson, and students at The Loyola College Of Music in New Orleans. The music grew from rock and progrock influences, New Orleans funk and R&B, classical studies, and the fusion explosion with bands like The Mahavishnu Orchestra, the Dixie Dregs, Allen Holdsworth and others. With a few early personnel changes, the lineup has remained consistent: Jimmy Robinson (guitar), Fran Comiskey (keyboards), Paul Clement (bass), and Mark Whitaker (drums).

The music is a high energy fusion of instrumental Rock & Roll, Jazz, R&B and Celtic influences. 2025 marks Woodenhead’s 50th anniversary. To celebrate, the band is releasing the entire 7 album remastered catalog!
