Chipo Kandake,a modern-day Josephine Baker, debuts her first full-length production, The Chipo Kandake Revue: Black Magic Woman, at the Toulouse Theatre. This one-night-only experience traces the roots of American music—born in the Black community—through movement, sound, and storytelling.

The Revue was inspired by a viral moment that captured the world’s attention: an impromptu dance between Chipo and jazz legend Herlin Riley at the Bayou Bar. Their brief, wordless exchange—viewed over 4.8 million times—became the foundation for a deeper investigation into the Black origins of American sound and its influence on global music genres today.

The Revue features a powerful lineup of musicians, including special guest Herlin Riley, plus House Band: Alfred Jordan & CR3ATIVES UNITED ft. Victor Campbell, Gladney, and Jelly Joseph + DJ Funké

Tickets start at $28
