The Greasing of the Poles is a quirky Mardi Gras tradition at The Royal Sonesta New Orleans. This annual event, held the Friday before Mardi Gras, features celebrity guests and live music. Originally a practical measure to deter revelers, it’s now a beloved New Orleans tradition.

The event is a greasing competition, with this year's contestants including musician HaSizzle, Fleurty Girl founder Lauren Haydel and others. Robin Barnes serves as emcee and performs, along with HaSizzle and Leroy Jones. Participating Carnival groups include the 610 Stompers, The Merry Antoinettes, members of the krewe of N.O.M.T.O.C. and the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club + More!
