Radiooooo.com, an awesome new website, allows users to pick a country and decade (20th and 21st centuries only) and the site will then transport you by playing songs from that place and time. Unfortunately, the farthest "down" it goes is to the country-level, so the time machine doesn't get into the sounds of New Orleans from, say, 1970, but you can hear a lot of cool stuff. What was playing in Ghana in 1960, shortly after independence? Or France, 1950 as the country continued its rebuilding and recovery from World War II? India, still under colonial rule, in the 1930s? Now you can hear it.
