Our 28th Piano Night happened on Monday, April 25, 2016. The annual benefit event for WWOZ celebrates the great New Orleans piano tradition, this year with special tributes to the recently deceased Allen Toussaint. Performers included Monty Alexander - Harlem Kingston Express, Henry Butler, Marcia Ball, John Gros, Joe Krown, Tom McDermott, Courtney Bryan, Kyle Roussel, Marty Sammon, Sonny Schneidau, Craig Adams, and Conun Pappas.

Longtime WWOZ programming director Dwayne Breashears was named a WWOZ Guardian of the Groove, an honor bestowed on those who play a significant role in preserving and enhancing the culture of New Orleans. This was part of Dwayne's last week at the station.
