'5 things to know' is a weekly feature highlighting different parts of the WWOZ world that you may have missed this week, including unique WWOZ programming and video, plus New Orleans events, artists, places, features, and more. For the week ending April 22, 2016-- so much is going on!

1) It's JAZZ FEST! We're broadcasting live from each day of the festival and looking forward to seeing all of our Brass Passers in the WWOZ Hospitality Tent. See our live broadcast schedule-- quite possibly the best one we've ever had from Jazz Fest. Check out the full lineup, with cubes, here.

2) Monday is Piano Night! This is our 28th annual celebration of the outstanding New Orleans piano tradition. The Piano Night 2016 lineup includes Monty Alexander - Harlem Kingston Express, Henry Butler, Marcia Ball, John 'Papa' Gros, Joe Krown, Tom McDermott, Courtney Bryan, Kyle Roussel, Marty Sammon, and more. Our 2016 honoree will be the late Allen Toussaint. Performers on the Main Stage at House of Blues will pay tribute to his memory and amazing music in a myriad of ways. Don't miss out! General admission tickets and tickets to the intimate Piano Heaven are still available.

3) Sync Up is the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s entertainment industry conference during Jazz Fest. With panel discussions and interviews in the mornings before Jazz Fest, Sync Up explores various aspects of a career in music: recording, touring, distribution, crowdfunding and more – all from the perspective of an independent artist. We're video streaming live from each day of the music portion of the conference, 10a-1p. You can watch it here, 4/22-4/24 and 4/29-4/30: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wwoz-live-video-stream

4) The Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs aren't on the streets this weekend, but they will be out in full force at Jazz Fest! Here's a look at the S&P Clubs' history and traditions from GoNOLA.com, along with information about the specific clubs that will be second lining each day.

5) WWOZ is presenting a special event along with the Ace Hotel New Orleans at their new, intimate Three Keys venue on Wednesday, April 27. Two New Orleans musical forces, Tricia Boutté and Paul Longstreth, join together as the Bootleg Duo for a special evening with two sets of music. The event is free with RSVP but get in quickly! Doors are at 8p and the first set starts at 8:45p. The first set will be broadcast live and video streamed on our website.

Lagniappe: don't forget to check our Livewire Music Calendar online or app. There is a ton of amazing live music going on all over the city the next couple weeks. Here are a few picks. And definitely don't miss DJ Soul Sister w/George Clinton on Sunday!
