Grammy-winning Robert Glasper Experiment to play Good Foot Ball at Gasa Gasa, January 29

The Krewe of King James: Super Bad Sex Machine Strollers just announced that the Robert Glasper Experiment has been added to the lineup of its 2nd Annual Good Foot Ball on January 29. The Ball, which is open to the public, also includes Chapter:SOUL (featuring New Orleans' own Calvin Johnson and Kirk Joseph) and DJ Soul Sister (who is also the captain of the Krewe of King James).

With a unique fusion of R&B, jazz, and hip hop that brazenly traverses the boundaries of all three genres, the Robert Glasper Experiment (led by Houston-born pianist Glasper) have recorded award-winning albums for Blue Note records, including Black Radio, which won "Best R&B Album" at the 2012 Grammys, and Black Radio 2, which won "Best Traditional R&B Performance" at the 2015 Grammys. The Robert Glasper Experiment features Glasper (keys), Casey Benjamin (saxophone, vocoder), Derrick Hodge (bass), and Mark Colenburg (drums).

The Good Foot Ball takes place Friday, January 29, 9pm-2am, at Gasa Gasa, 4920 Freret St. Tickets are available at gasagasa.com.

The event is presented by the Krewe of King James: Super Bad Sex Machine Strollers, DJ Soul Sister's James Brown-themed Carnival marching krewe that has danced in the Krewe Delusion parade since 2014. The krewe captains are Soul Sister and Pamela "Funk Baby" Blackmon. To learn more about the KKJ and the Good Foot Ball, visit facebook.com/kreweofkingjames.
