The New Orleans Original Brass Festival was founded to celebrate the culture and legacy of New Orleans music and its people. Proceeds go towards supporting the Save Our Brass Culture Foundation, which was created to give opportunities for elder and retired local musicians a way to provide income for their families. Save Our Brass Foundation aims to provide teaching and mentor jobs in the brass music community (schools, local jails, and churches). This organization was created by musicians and for musicians.

This year's festival will kick off with a brass jazz memorial tribute honoring brass band musicians who are now deceased, including "Uncle Lionel" Batiste, Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacen, Dinneral Shavers, Arian Macklin, and more.
